Second, the complex could be seen as establishing a clear missionaries-Jesus and Jesus-God hierarchy. Far from establishing a hierarchy of mission, however, the texts actually negate any such patronal mediators or brokered mediations. But that is only clear when the full dyadic structure is preserved: missionaries are to Jesus as Jesus is to God. It is always the Sender who is received. That emphasis on God rather than the missionary is undermined when only one half of the saying is preserved.
